On this day, the best way to honor the dead is to reassert — and expand — the values that made their lives in this country (and our own) possible.

This means rebuilding the World Trade Center — with private dollars and within the capitalist framework. It means making the new World Trade Center bigger, taller and better than ever. It should be a proud, strong and brilliant symbol of the human determination to master and enjoy his environment. It should be the best symbol yet of the absolute and irreparable separation of church and state — which, Muslim fanatics should take note, will eventually be the law of the world.

This means killing dictators whenever it is possible and in our strategic interest to do so. The U.N. be damned. We’ll do our best to avoid harming civilians, but we cannot stray from the imperative to kill those who seek to destroy us and most certainly will destroy us once they have the means. Long live the Bush Doctrine, and may President Bush seek to implement it consistently.

This means never suspending judgment, even when it comes to civilians. Don’t forget that some civilians openly cheered the events of two years ago and many more silently did so. One may be entitled to his opinion, but one must also face the consequences of siding with violent dictators. There are no innocent civilians in this category: only ones that deserve to perish along with their sadistic heroes.

This means proudly asserting not the infallibility of the United States but the moral superiority of the United States because it upholds the material and psychological fulfillment of life on earth for all who seek it. Contrary to what both religion and socialism teach us, the material and psychological fulfillment of man are good things. The United States exists not to subordinate man to Allah, or to Jesus Christ or to the government. The United States exists to subordinate government to man, so that man may pursue happiness and live life to the fullest.

This means not hunkering down, ducking and covering to prepare for the “next” terrorist attack; it means demanding that our leaders, especially our President, expand and intensify the war against not just one or two but all terrorist-sponsoring and terrorist-enabling states. We know who they are.

If you want to honor the dead and take action on this day, don’t merely cry. Don’t merely take a moment of silence. Instead, take a moment to celebrate your existence. Celebration of life is an end in itself. It’s also the opposite of what those man-hating, life-hating, capitalist-hating, freedom-hating terrorists did on that infamous day.

Love yourself; live life; celebrate freedom. In so doing, you will be uplifted by everything the terrorists sought to destroy.
